St. Marks Brownstone

An Oriel window addition to this landmark Romanesque revival townhouse allowed for a new expansive kitchen and dining room.

The two key items on the owner's wish list were ample cooking space and maintaining original details without disrupting the townhouse layout. To achieve these goals, we designed a cantilevered bay window addition, known as an ‘Oriel window’. The addition allowed for ample additional kitchen cabinets and additional space for a new kitchen island. It also freed up space for large cooking and refrigeration appliances that were also on the clients' wish list.

Existing original wood moldings were removed and reused throughout the floor and the existing plaster crown molding was restored in some sections and recreated to match in other sections. New windows and doors were designed in reconfigured new openings.
