Third Street Brownstone

Elegance and comfort were at the top of the list of requirements for this family of 5 who wanted to reinvent their beautiful brownstone.

For the kitchen, a passion for cooking and sharing culinary masterpieces with family and friends meant our client wanted more usable space to ensure the whole family could be together. We began by enlarging the kitchen windows and installing new tilting frames to maximize the light.

We gave the new kitchen a focal point around an island, giving unobstructed views throughout the entire space. The fabric and color of the units, in dark walnut, were selected to compliment the new window fittings, pairing traditional and contemporary styles for an overall simple elegance.

Extending the living/dining space was an essential part of this refurbishment and a large deck was built off the kitchen, providing the family with a modern outdoor area.  Striking seating and lighting were added to transform this once unusable area of the back yard.

The living and dining rooms received an equally elegant treatment for full refurbishment and redecoration. The key theme for this family was to be contemporary yet stay true to the architecture of the building. We achieved this by selecting materials sympathetic to the building’s beauty while capturing the essence of the family within.
